The newly-recruited English/Computer Trainer makes the center additional fame. More and more village children are coming to register to learn English at the center as it is done free of charge. This has proved that our social service is largely known and gains increased support from the people in the surrounding. My visit to Kompong Cham center on 16 August was very essential as I noticed that some villagers brought their children to office to register for English classes. Now there are 168 center and village children attended English classes. The center has divided into 3 groups. Group 1 from 8-9AM, group 2 from 12-13PM and group 3 from 2-3PM. In the average, there 50 students in a class.
Pedagogically, it is not systematic in compliance with the norms as too many children taken class at a time. AFESIP understands full well about the issue, but it has no choice as it is seemingly not our great expectation. AFESIP Cambodia will inform all of you about the impact and the result of our effort.
The library has been established in the new building to facilitate the reading/learning for our children. However, the library has also been opened widely to the children of the villages, as the nearby primary and secondary schools cannot afford for a variety of reading books. The center hopes to receive more donations in order to gradually fill the shelves at the library soon.

This year, 35 out of 55 residents of Siem Reap center went to visit their homes, whereas 30 out of 75 residents of Tomdy center were also allowed to.
This year, Kompong Cham Center is selected to be the host center for the other 2 centers’ invitees. Somaly Mam, president and founder of AFESIP Cambodia and Somaly Mam Foundation invited the remaining residents of Siem Reap and Tomdy centers to visit and celebrate the Khmer New Year at Kompong Cham center.
Early in the morning, Siem Reap center group led by Monirath, Head of the center left Siem Reap for Kompong Cham Center with a rented bus on the 14th April and reached it on the same day, whereas Tomdy center group by Mam Khon, Head of the center also left the location at dawn.
Now look what happened to the host center : Kheng Sochenda, Head of Kompong Cham Center and her staff and some able residents were preparing for the banners with slogans welcoming the Khmer New Year one day prior to the celebration . Hundreds of multi-colored triangle cloth fixed on the long string were tied by the girls here and there from trees to trees. Balloons were tied in front of the center and the ceremony platform.
