Our Victim-Centered Approach

Part of an entire regional program, AFESIP CAMBODIA is considered the "model project" from which visitors and other AFESIP entities may learn. AFESIP CAMBODIA makes every effort to put the needs of sex-trafficked victims at the forefront of our activities, programs, and policies.

Our activities address all consequences of trafficking for sex slavery. These activities range from investigation and rescue of victims from their slave-like conditions to follow-up of persons after their rehabilitation and reintegration process into the community.

Our strategy is:

  • To protect victims
  • To use the victim-centered approach to care for victims
  • To develop and implement regional strategies to repatriate victims
  • To reintegrate victims and follow the case for up to 3 years.

AFESIP CAMBODIA's rehabilitation objectives are first and foremost the protection of victims; second, the implementation of the victim-centered approach through holistic care and the welcome of any persons who wish to leave sex slavery conditions to our three residential centers; and third, the achievement of the long-term goal of reintegration into society.

AFESIP CAMBODIA has now acquired thirteen years (since 1997) of experience in:

  • Rehabilitation and reintegration of victims trafficked for sex slavery, with growing numbers of Cambodian nationals and expatriate staff.
  • Investigations and protection of the victims.
  • Prevention of HIV/AIDS within the sex sector.
