A 2-day workshop was conducted by AFESIP Health Department on 19-20 July 2010 at AFESIP Clinic, Phnom Penh attended by 29 participants including 13 social workers from 8 provinces, peer educators, Somaly Mam Foundation’s representative and other Phnom Penh management staff. The workshop is aimed to review the past six months’ activities, in particular in the sector of HIV/AIDS and Clinic service and to discuss the weak points to be improved. In the past six months, our social workers visited 960 sex establishments, 38 increased over last 2nd semester 2009, as of 27,122 entertainment workers/times received drug-related to HIV, HIV/AIDS and STD’s education, human right, domestic violence and provision of consultation how to exit prostitution. It also studied the strategic plan for the next semester’s activities and the long term strategy. The participants were also trained in internet access and its usage and statistics collection methodology.

To get a deeper understanding of AFESIP center services for the peers and the provincial social workers, in particular on trafficked victims’ recovery, training and reintegration, the health department directed them to Tomdy center for a study visit to all  services such as food, non formal classes, childcare, medical, sewing and hairdressing vocational; training. After their visit, Mr. Mam Khon, head of the center gave them a service presentation. The participants pledged themselves to do their best in order to persuade the entertainment workers to use AFESIP center’s proper service.
