On 21 July 2010, an AFESIP staff was invited for the hearing of a deaf-mute young lady
who was trafficked to Thailand and forced to have sex for 2 years.

In the past two years, the mother of the trafficked deaf-mute victim came to AFESIP for

assistance in finding her daughter. AFESIP then coordinated with Koh Kong provincial
anti-trafficking police authorities
for intervention.

After around 2 months, it was informed that one of the suspected brothels in Trat province,
bordering to Cambodia
was shut down, and the victims were freed.

Later, a young man brought the deaf-mute to her mother's house and saying that he is her
husband, then he escaped. AFESIP started its work on full legal process on filing complaint,
follow up to the court with the lawyer from CDP and our invitation of deaf-mute translator from
Kroursa Thmey organization for facilitation the process until the case came to trial.
